Motivate to Exercise or Exercise to be Motivated?
I see and hear this happen a lot.
I have fallen completely off the wagon! I was doing so well and now I have cravings all over the shop. I am tired and lethargic and want to eat stodge! Help! I don’t know what to do…..
How many of you can hold your hands up to this one? I believe that this happens to everyone at some point.
How many times have you started a new regime? You are regularily exercising, planning your food, sleeping good and feeling on track. But…..something happens, you skip the odd class, grab the odd treat, odd glass of wine and before you know it……… it all goes to pot!
Why is it that it doesn’t seem to last?
Well there are a number of contributory factors that can derail you best intentions. Such as lack of any real motivating goals so will power gives out or others things like stress, poor sleep and illness can also be an isssue.
How do you get out of it?
Well let me ask you some questions:
- How many times have you done a workout, gone for a walk, danced to some music and not immediately have felt better for it?
- How many times have you done some sort of physical activity and regretted it?
- How many times have you NOT done some sort of physical activity and regretted it?
It is my opinion that exercise is the biggest hormonal reset button there is! If you choose the right kind of exercise for you, then it can literally start a cascade of feel good hormones and bodily responses that make you feel:
- more alert
- more focused
- more motivated
- cravings suppressed
- better sleep
- better food choices
But what is exercise? What type should I do?
Exercise is anything that gets you moving more than when you are not moving! Simple! Move your body and it will feel good becuase of it! Do what makes you feel good. There is no point forcing yourself to run 10 miles if it doesn’t make you feel good or sends you straight to the vending machine after. But for some a 1 minute burst of squats or a quick shimmy around the kitchen can do it.
For me I love nothing better than to throw some weights around! I love the feeling I get in my muscles after a quick metaobolic chain. My heart is pounding and my muscles are burning. I feel strong and indestructible!
If you have recently lost your Mojo when it comes to exercise and have found that making good food choices is harder. Then consider your exercise options. Think outside of the gym or class environement too. What can you do at home or at work? Make time for exercise as it really isn’t an option!
I’d love to know your thoughts.
Big love, small tummies!
